Who sets it
A law sets the method and the Government sets the amount by regulation each year, following a legal formula linked to the average wage and consultation with the social partners.
How it changes
It is reviewed each year, with the formula and the social partners' views guiding the amount.
Who is covered, and who is treated differently
- Jobs are graded by difficulty and a higher minimum applies to the more demanding grades.
What to watch for
- Check the current regulation, which sets the exact amounts.
Understand the legal system first
Slovakia belongs to the Civil law family. How pay is regulated depends on how the legal system makes and applies labour law.
