Minimum wage in Cambodia
Cambodia has no minimum wage for the whole economy. A minimum wage is set each year for the garment, textile, footwear, travel goods and bag industries, by an order of the Ministry of Labour.

Who sets it
The Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training issues a Prakas, a ministerial order, each year for the garment and related industries, after a tripartite council of Government, employers and unions has discussed it.
How it changes
The order is made in the second half of the year and takes effect on 1 January. A separate amount can apply to probationary workers.
Who is covered, and who is treated differently
- It covers the textile, garment, footwear, travel goods and bag industries. Other sectors are not covered by the same order.
- Allowances are paid on top of the minimum in many factories.
What to watch for
- There is no single figure for the economy. Check the current order for the sector.
Understand the legal system first
Cambodia belongs to the Civil law family. How pay is regulated depends on how the legal system makes and applies labour law.
