Who sets it
Each province, through its government and a minimum wage board or council, sets the minimum monthly wage for its workers. The federal government sets the rate for the federal capital territory.
How it changes
Rates are usually announced in the provincial and federal budgets around June and notified from 1 July, though this varies by province.
Who is covered, and who is treated differently
- Provinces have set different amounts and have changed them at different times.
- Provinces may also set higher rates for skilled workers.
What to watch for
- There is no one figure for the country. Find the notification of the province where the work is done.

Pakistan belongs to the Religious (Islamic) law is a leading source family. How pay is regulated depends on how the legal system makes and applies labour law.
