Minimum wage in Singapore
Singapore has no general minimum wage. For some sectors, such as cleaning and security, the Government sets mandatory wage floors, called the Progressive Wage Model.

Who sets it
The Government, advised by a tripartite body of Government, employers and unions, sets mandatory wage floors for named sectors through the licensing and legal rules for those sectors.
How it changes
The floors for each sector are reviewed in steps over several years and published in advance.
Who is covered, and who is treated differently
- The wage floors apply to the sectors and job levels named in the rules, and not to the whole economy.
- Elsewhere pay is set by contract and by collective agreements.
What to watch for
- There is no single figure to quote. Check whether the job falls in a sector with a mandatory floor.
Understand the legal system first
Singapore belongs to the Common law family. How pay is regulated depends on how the legal system makes and applies labour law.
