Checked October 2026. Spotted a mistake? Tell us.
Who sets it
The National Tripartite Committee, with representatives of Government, employers and organised labour, negotiates the rate. The Government then announces it.
How it changes
The committee negotiates each year, and the rate is set for the calendar year. It has often been agreed in the months before the new year.
Who is covered, and who is treated differently
- The rate is a daily one, and monthly pay is worked out from the days paid.
What to watch for
- Check the latest announcement of the National Tripartite Committee and the Ministry of Labour.
Understand the legal system first
Ghana belongs to the Common law family. How pay is regulated depends on how the legal system makes and applies labour law.
