Who sets it
The Government sets both amounts by decree, after talks with the employers and unions in the Permanent Consultation Forum.
How it changes
Both are normally set each year and take effect at the start of the year.
Who is covered, and who is treated differently
- A higher guaranteed wage minimum applies to employees in jobs that need at least secondary-level vocational qualifications.
- The figure shown is the general minimum wage.
What to watch for

Understand the legal system first
Hungary belongs to the Civil law family. How pay is regulated depends on how the legal system makes and applies labour law.
