Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Tsvety, doing business as TheLawToKnow (“we,” “us”), based in Bulgaria, collects, uses, and protects your personal information when you use tools.thelawtoknow.com.

1. Information We Collect

  • Account information — your email address and any name you provide when you register.
  • Payment information — handled directly by our payment processor, Stripe. We never receive or store your full card number; we retain only what Stripe provides us for order records (such as the product purchased and transaction amount).
  • Usage data — which courses, tools, and pages you access, quiz and exam results, and general site interaction, so features like progress tracking and certificates work.
  • Referral data — if you arrive via a Student Ambassador referral link, we record that referral (and, separately, whether it later resulted in a verified purchase) so the ambassador program can function.
  • Cookies and similar technologies — used to keep you signed in, remember preferences, and attribute referral visits. See Section 4.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information above to:

  • Provide and maintain your account and the courses/tools you have purchased;
  • Process payments and send purchase confirmations, receipts, and certificates;
  • Track course progress and quiz results for features like graded assessments;
  • Operate the Student Ambassador referral program, including verifying and rewarding referrals;
  • Respond to support requests;
  • Improve the Service and understand how it is used; and
  • Meet our own legal and tax obligations.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it to serve third-party advertising.

3. Who We Share Information With

We share information only with the service providers necessary to operate the Site, each acting on our behalf under their own confidentiality and security commitments:

  • Stripe — payment processing.
  • Supabase — account authentication and data storage.
  • Resend — transactional email, such as certificate delivery.
  • Vercel — website hosting and infrastructure.

We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of us, our users, or the public — for example, in response to a valid legal request, or to investigate suspected fraud (including referral-program abuse).

4. Cookies

We use cookies to keep you signed in, remember your preferences, and — if you arrive via a Student Ambassador referral link — to attribute that visit to the referring ambassador for a limited period. This referral cookie may be set on our shared domain (thelawtoknow.com and its subdomains) so a referral is correctly credited even if you browse both sites before purchasing. You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings, though doing so may affect some site functionality, including staying signed in.

5. Data Retention

We retain account and purchase information for as long as your account is active, and afterward for as long as needed to comply with our legal, tax, and accounting obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.

6. Data Security

We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards to protect your information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and reputable, security-conscious service providers. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Your Rights (EU/UK/EEA Visitors)

If you are located in the EU, UK, or EEA, you have rights under the GDPR/UK GDPR to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. As we are based in Bulgaria, the GDPR applies directly to how we process your data, not only through extraterritorial reach. Our legal basis for processing your information is generally to perform our contract with you (provide the Service you purchased), our legitimate interests (operating and improving the Service, and preventing fraud), and, where applicable, your consent. To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details in Section 10.

8. Your Rights (California Residents)

If you are a California resident, the CCPA gives you the right to know what personal information we collect, to request deletion of that information, and to not be discriminated against for exercising these rights. As noted above, we do not sell personal information.

9. Children’s Privacy

The Service is not directed at children under 16. Consistent with our Terms of Service, an account may only be created and independently used by someone 18 or older, except that a 16- or 17-year-old may use access purchased for them as a gift by an adult. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 16.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice.
