Minimum wage in the Netherlands
The Netherlands has a statutory minimum wage that is adjusted twice a year, in January and July, to follow wage growth. Younger workers have lower percentages of it.
Headline figure (second half of 2026)
2,338 EUR per month
Eurostat's gross, full-time monthly figure; 13th and 14th-month payments are spread over twelve months.
Roughly US$2,620 a month for a full-time worker, at exchange rates of 2026-10-09. This is a rough comparison only and does not show buying power.

Who sets it
The Minimum Wage and Minimum Holiday Allowance Act sets the system. The Minister of Social Affairs and Employment adjusts the amount each January and July.
How it changes
The amounts follow the average rise in collectively agreed wages. They are published per month, per week and per day for a full-time week.
Who is covered, and who is treated differently
- Workers aged 21 and over receive the full adult minimum; workers aged 15 to 20 receive a set percentage that rises with age.
- Employers must also pay holiday allowance.
What to watch for
- Check the current amounts published by the Government for your age and working week.
Understand the legal system first
The Netherlands belongs to the Civil law family. How pay is regulated depends on how the legal system makes and applies labour law.
