The Law To Know

Data Protection and AI: A Living Map

Data protection law in the European style starts with personal data and the roles of those who handle it. The principles govern everything: lawfulness, fairness and transparency, purpose limitation, data minimisation, accuracy, storage limitation, security and accountability. Each use of data needs a lawful basis, individuals have rights, security failures may have to be reported to the authority within 72 hours, and processors and transfers need contracts and safeguards. AI tools raise the same questions in sharper form: what data goes in, who processes it, and what comes out. Press Play, click an idea, or trace a case. A simplified map of EU-style rules; the law differs by country.

Hover over an idea to light up what it connects to, click it for its definition, minimum requirements, an example and the usual trap, press Play to watch the map build step by step, or trace a short case through it.

Simplified teaching map, in general terms. Check the law where you work. On a small screen, scroll the map sideways.
