Data for 2016 to 2025. What it counts, how to cite it and the data

At a glance

  • 144 countries or territories have a figure.
  • The highest is Bahamas at 57.8% (2024) and the lowest is Afghanistan at 5.9% (2020).
  • The middle value (the median) is 33.2%.

What it counts

Women's share of employment in senior and middle management (the ISCO occupation groups for legislators, senior officials and managers), as estimated by the International Labour Organization.

What it leaves out, and how far to trust a comparison

Occupation groups differ between countries, and the figure covers employees reported in labour surveys, in different years. It does not show pay, or the share at the very top of firms.
