Law firms, legal departments and courts now hire people who sit between the lawyers and the technology: legal engineers, legal technologists and legal operations specialists. They find the work worth automating, map it, turn the rules into logic, build the documents and the data around it, put AI to work with proper checks, and prove that it helps. This program teaches that craft in order, with a working tool in every course and a portfolio project at the end that shows what you can do.

What you will be able to do

  • Find and rank the legal work that is worth automating, with numbers behind the choice.
  • Map a legal process and design decision logic with test cases.
  • Build a document template with variables, conditions and checks.
  • Structure legal data and answer questions about it, including with simple queries.
  • Design an AI-assisted workflow with retrieval, evaluation and human review.
  • Present a finished project as a portfolio case study.

Who it is for

  • Lawyers who want to lead legal technology work in their firm or department.
  • Legal operations and knowledge-management staff.
  • Paralegals and law students who want a path into legal tech.
  • Engineers and analysts moving into legal work who need to learn how lawyers think.

The portfolio you finish with

Employers in legal technology hire on evidence of what you can do. By the end you will have 6 pieces that together tell one story about one real piece of legal work.

  1. 1. An opportunity assessment

A scored comparison of legal workflows, ending in one recommended project.

  2. 2. A process map and decision logic

The current and the redesigned process, with rules written as tested decision logic.

  3. 3. A document template with tests

A working template with conditions, and test data showing that the output is right.

  4. 4. A data model and a dashboard plan

The fields, the questions and the measures that show whether the project works.

  5. 5. An AI workflow specification

Where AI is used, how it is checked, and what stays with a human.

  6. 6. A one-page case study

The problem, the solution, the results and what you would do next.

Common questions

Do I need to know how to code?
No. The program teaches the thinking: process, logic, data and checking. The tools in each course are built into the course, and you do not write software. If you can code, the same ideas apply directly; if you cannot, you will still be able to specify, test and manage what others build.
Is this only for lawyers?
No. It is written for people who work with legal processes, whether or not they are qualified lawyers. The legal ideas are explained as they arise.
How long does it take?
Each course has seven modules and a capstone. Most people take a course in two to three weeks of evenings, and the whole program in a few months. You can go at your own pace; access never expires.
How does the price work?
Each course is $15 on its own. The whole program, including the two recommended electives, is one purchase (the price is on this page), or included in an All-Access Membership. Module 1 of every course is free to try.
Do I get a certificate?
Each course issues its own Certificate of Completion when you pass its quizzes. The portfolio project is how you show the program as a whole.
Is any of it legal advice?
No. The people and situations are invented for teaching, and this is general education about designing and managing legal work.
