Source: Eurostat, Employment and labour force by sex and age (lfsi_emp_a). Data for 2025. What it counts, how to cite it and the data

At a glance

  • 34 countries or territories have a figure.
  • The highest is Malta at 89.1% (2025) and the lowest is North Macedonia at 73.1% (2025).
  • The middle value (the median) is 80.8%.

What it counts

Men aged 20 to 64 in employment as a share of all men of that age, from the EU labour force survey, in the latest year each country reports (since 2022).

What it leaves out, and how far to trust a comparison

An hour of paid work counts as employment, so the rate does not show full-time work, pay or security. Compare with the chart for women, and remember that unpaid work is not counted for either.
