The Law To Know

Module 5

Your profile and positioning: describing yourself honestly and clearly

The field has no standard job title. People who do what this course teaches are called legal engineers, legal operations analysts, legal technologists, knowledge lawyers, legal project managers, innovation lawyers, legal data analysts, product managers and many other things, and the same title can mean different work in different organisations. That makes describing yourself harder and more important. A reader must be able to see, in a headline and a few lines, what you do and what you can prove. This module covers the titles and what they usually involve, how to position yourself from where you start, how to write a headline and a summary, how to turn a project into bullets that lead with results, how to list skills so that each is backed by evidence and how to avoid the overclaiming that damages credibility. It makes no claim about hiring or pay, which vary widely by place and time.
