Module 6
Finding and winning work: routes, conversations, interviews and professional limits
A portfolio opens doors only if someone walks through them with you. This module is about the practical business of finding work: where organisations that need this skill are to be found, why the best first step is often a small win inside the place where you already work, how to start conversations with people who do the work you want, what to expect in interviews and practical exercises, how to scope and price work if you are a contractor and what the professional limits are, because legal work is regulated and a legal engineer must understand where the lines run. It makes no promise about the number of jobs or the pay, which depend on where you are and on the time. It offers a way of looking that makes luck less important.
