The Law To Know

Module 6

Testing and quality: proving that every document comes out right

The commonest way for an automated document to fail is not a dramatic crash. It is a paragraph that quietly goes missing, a figure that does not match another, a name left blank or a clause that appears when it should not, in a combination of answers that nobody tried. The template looked right when its author tested it with the example. The mistake is found by a client. Testing a template is therefore not an optional extra; it is the main protection a lawyer has against silent error. This module teaches a method: cover every branch, test the edges, read the output as a careful reader, re-test after every change and release only when a checklist is complete.

Module 1 of this course is free, and this is not it. Unlock the whole course below, or go back to the course page.

General education on legal document automation, using invented organisations, documents and figures. It is not legal advice. Clauses and letters are illustrations of structure, not recommended wording: real documents must follow the law that applies and be checked by a lawyer.
