Practice material for the Solicitors Qualifying Examination — the route to qualifying as a solicitor of England and Wales, set by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) and administered by Kaplan. SQE is a two-part exam covering a different legal system from the rest of this site’s US-focused courses: the substantive and procedural law of England and Wales. SQE Prep is a standalone $59 purchase, sold separately and not included in an All-Access Membership.

The Real SQE Format

  • SQE1 — 360 single-best-answer multiple choice questions across two papers (FLK1 and FLK2), 180 questions each, 5 hours 6 minutes per paper
  • SQE2 — 16 separate skills assessments (3 oral, 4 written) across a client-based problem set, testing how you apply the law rather than just what you know
  • Ethics and professional conduct is tested pervasively throughout both stages, not as its own separate subject

Candidates must pass SQE1 before sitting SQE2, and normally also need two years of qualifying work experience before admission as a solicitor.

SQE1 — Functional Legal Knowledge

Practice single-best-answer questions subject by subject, with a full explanation after every question. Contract Law and Tort are live now; the rest are being added over time.
