The Current LSAT Format
Since August 2024, the LSAT no longer includes an Analytical Reasoning (“Logic Games”) section — it was permanently removed and replaced with a second Logical Reasoning section. The exam you’ll actually take is:
- Two scored Logical Reasoning sections — roughly 24–26 questions each, 35 minutes each
- One scored Reading Comprehension section — roughly 26–28 questions, 35 minutes
- One unscored experimental section — either Logical Reasoning or Reading Comprehension format, used to test future questions; you won’t know which section this is while taking the exam
- A separate LSAT Argumentative Writing task — a 50-minute essay, completed online within about 8 days of your test date, unscored but required to be on file before law schools review your application
Scores range from 120 to 180, based on a raw-score-to-scale conversion that varies slightly by test date.
