Exam Prep — Canada
NCA Prep
The National Committee on Accreditation's assessment for foreign-trained lawyers seeking to practise law in Canada — seven mandatory subjects, each its own open-book, essay-heavy exam.
The NCA (part of the Federation of Law Societies of Canada) assesses foreign-trained lawyers seeking accreditation to practise in Canada, assigning each applicant a set of subjects based on their own legal education. Five subjects have long formed the mandatory Canadian-content core; two more — Legal Research and Writing, and Indigenous Law and Peoples — became mandatory for applications assessed from March 1, 2026 onward. Unlike a single combined bar exam, each subject is its own separate 3-hour, open-book exam built from short-answer, essay, and problem questions — real issue-spotting and applied analysis, not primarily multiple-choice.
The Curriculum
Practice by Subject
Single-best-answer questions across each mandatory subject, with a full explanation after every question — self-test practice, not a substitute for the real open-book essay format.
Timed Essay Outline Sprints
The format that actually matches the real exam: a concrete fact pattern, a countdown, and a model IRAC outline to self-audit against once time's up.
What It Covers
“This tool teaches general NCA-style patterns through original practice material grounded in real Canadian doctrine — not affiliated with or endorsed by the National Committee on Accreditation or the Federation of Law Societies of Canada, and not a substitute for the official syllabi.”
- Built around the real exam format — timed IRAC essay-outline practice, not just a multiple-choice quiz bank pretending an open-book essay exam is something it isn't.
- Covers the current mandatory core, including Legal Research and Writing and Indigenous Law and Peoples — both newly mandatory for assessments from March 1, 2026, not the older 5-subject list.
- Each subject stands alone, matching how the NCA actually assigns and examines them individually — practice exactly the subjects assigned to you.
