Houses and flats
Houses and flats can be bought on the same terms as by Georgians.
Buying through a company
A company registered in Georgia with foreign shareholders can hold property, but the agricultural land rule can still apply.
Limits and closed zones
- Land in border zones and near protected areas has special rules.
What to watch for
- Check the title in the public registry. A notary or the public registry handles the transfer.
Understand the legal system first
Georgia belongs to the Civil law family. Property is registered and transferred differently in different traditions, so it helps to know how the system works.
