Exam Prep — Hong Kong
OLQE Prep
The Overseas Lawyers Qualification Examination — the route to admission in Hong Kong for overseas-qualified lawyers, administered by the Law Society of Hong Kong.
Who Is This For?
The OLQE is Hong Kong's route for lawyers already qualified elsewhere. It is not the route Hong Kong's own law graduates take (the PCLL, a taught course rather than an exam).
The OLQE is the route to admission in Hong Kong for overseas-qualified lawyers, an annual assessment administered by the Law Society of Hong Kong. It comprises 6 Heads of Examination - 5 written papers (Conveyancing, Civil & Criminal Procedure, Commercial & Company Law, Accounts & Professional Conduct, and Hong Kong Constitutional Law), all open-book, plus Head V, Principles of Common Law, assessed as a real oral examination rather than a written paper.
The Curriculum
Practice by Head→
Single-best-answer questions across each written Head, with a full explanation after every question - self-test practice for an open-book exam that still rewards real, applied legal knowledge.
Timed Essay Outline Sprints→
A concrete fact pattern, a countdown, and a model IRAC outline to self-audit against - matching the essay/problem-question format the written Heads actually use.
What It Covers
“This tool teaches general OLQE-style patterns through original practice material grounded in real Hong Kong law - not affiliated with or endorsed by the Law Society of Hong Kong, and not a substitute for the official syllabi. Head V, Principles of Common Law, is assessed as a real oral examination and isn't offered here in written form.”
- Pairs MCQ practice with timed IRAC essay-outline sprints, matching how the written Heads are actually examined (4 of 5 essay/problem questions per paper), not just recall.
- Grounded directly in real Hong Kong law - the Basic Law's Article 158 interpretive framework, the Companies Ordinance - not a generic common-law approximation.
- Honest about format: Head V's real oral exam isn't faked as a written quiz, unlike a generic question bank that might paper over the distinction.
