Module 6
Tracking regulatory change: from horizon scan to updated map
A map is a photograph of a moving subject. The day after it is finished, a regulator publishes new guidance, a legislature amends a deadline or a court narrows a definition, and the map is a little wrong. Most compliance failures that are blamed on ignorance of the law are really failures of change management: the change was published and nobody noticed, or somebody noticed and nobody acted, or somebody acted on a summary that left out the important sentence. This module teaches how to keep the map current. You learn where changes come from and how to scan for them, how a rule moves from proposal to commencement and why the dates matter, how to judge the impact of a change before it takes effect, how to compare two versions of a text to see exactly what moved and how to keep a change log that shows who decided what. It ends with the use of alerts and AI summaries, which are useful and which must never be the only source. The Change Comparer takes two invented versions of a regulation and shows what is tighter, looser, new or removed.

See what is included in All-Access →General education on regulatory mapping and compliance analytics, using invented regulations, regulators, companies and figures. It states common practice in simplified form and does not describe any one country's law, which differs and changes; rules on scope, interpretation, reporting, record keeping, monitoring of staff and penalties in particular vary. It is not legal or compliance advice, and it does not replace advice from a qualified lawyer on a real regulatory question.
