Module 3
The basic controls: accounts, updates, backups, encryption, devices and suppliers
Security advice can feel endless, but a short list of basic controls prevents or limits most of the harm that law practices actually suffer. This module sets out that list in plain terms, explains why each control matters, and ends with an interactive self-check that scores a practice against it. These are the measures that insurers, clients and regulators look for first, and they are the practical meaning of ‘appropriate technical and organisational measures’ and ‘reasonable steps’.
