French contract-law reform

France

A major reform of the contract and obligations sections of the French Civil Code, renumbering articles and modernising its rules after two centuries.

Why it matters

It shows that even the oldest code is rewritten, and it changed the numbering of articles, such as the tort article, which is now article 1240.
