How to use it
- When: two spouses (or registered partners) have decided to separate or divorce and agree on how to divide their home, money, belongings and debts.
- Who signs: both spouses. Each keeps a signed copy. If you have children, also complete a separate parenting plan.
- Fill in everything in [square brackets] and cross out options that do not apply. List every asset and debt, with values and documents, in Art. 4 to 7.
- Be complete and honest: each spouse should tell the other about all assets and debts. An agreement made without full disclosure can be challenged later.
- Be fair: a balanced agreement is more likely to be accepted by a court or authority and to last.
- Tip: collect the documents first (property deeds, bank statements, loan contracts, pension statements, tax returns, vehicle papers). Consider a short consultation with a lawyer or mediator to check the draft and the court or notary steps in your country.
