The Law To Know

Capstone

Capstone: the legal function at Hartley Components

Hartley Components is an invented manufacturer with about 3,000 employees, factories in three countries and customers in the automotive and construction sectors. Its legal team has four lawyers and a paralegal. The previous general counsel left suddenly. You have just taken the role of head of legal. In your first weeks you have listened and gathered facts. The business tells you that legal is slow and says no too often. The finance director has asked why outside counsel spend has risen again. A junior lawyer has told you privately of a concern. Your task is to turn the facts into a plan that uses the whole course.
