Module 5
The craft: interviewing, researching, advising, drafting, negotiating and advocating
The knowledge of law is the raw material. The craft is what a lawyer does with it: finding out what the client really needs, finding the rule that governs, deciding what it means for this person, saying so in a form they can use, drafting the document that carries it out, negotiating with the other side and, where needed, arguing the case. Each skill can be learned, and each has a method. This module gives the method for each in the order they are normally used. It does not replace the specialised courses: the Interpersonal Skills series covers negotiation, speaking and client work in depth, and the Law and Data series covers analysis with numbers and AI.
Module 1 of this course is free, and this is not it. Unlock the whole course below, or go back to the course page.
