The Law To Know

Module 7

Choosing and building your path: entry, specialising, moving and staying well

A legal career is usually not a straight line. People start in one setting, move to another, change specialism, step sideways into management or technology, take time out and return. The best preparation is not a fixed plan but a habit of learning and a clear sense of what matters to you. This module gives you a way of comparing legal roles by how you like to work, advice on getting the first role and learning quickly, and a way of thinking about change. It also introduces the Role Explorer, a tool that grows as the other career courses of this series are added: attorney, prosecutor, judge, paralegal, mediator and more. Nothing here is personal career advice, and the tool is a starting point for conversations, not a verdict.

Module 1 of this course is free, and this is not it. Unlock the whole course below, or go back to the course page.
