Module 6
Risk, ethics and governance: building tools that lawyers can responsibly use
Legal work is regulated, confidential and consequential. A tool that gets a date wrong in a limitation calculation, leaks a client’s file or gives a member of the public confident but wrong advice can cause real harm, and the lawyer who relied on it remains responsible. A legal engineer must therefore build with care: knowing the duties that apply, testing what is built, keeping a human where judgement is needed, and being able to show afterwards what was done and why. This module sets out those duties and a practical way of meeting them. It is not a substitute for advice on the rules that apply to you.
